This year’s Ashbury Community Fund awards $30,000 to 20 local community groups
In mid-October twenty delighted community and not-for-profit groups from Armstrong Creek and the surrounding area received grants totalling $30,000 at the 2024 Ashbury Community Fund presentation evening.
An annual initiative of Dennis Family Corporation, the developer of Ashbury estate, this year’s presentation evening was held at the Ashbury Land Sales Centre in Armstrong Creek, with Dennis Family Group Managing Director, Grant Dennis, on hand to congratulate each of the successful organisations.
Assessed by an independent judging panel, eligibility for the $1,500 grants extended to not-for-profit groups operating in and around Armstrong Creek, Grovedale, Torquay and other surrounding suburbs.
Numbering amongst this year’s successful applicants is the Freshwater Creek Fire Brigade, operating just down the road from Ashbury. According to local CFA Commander, Nick Callan, the $1,500 grant will prove invaluable in terms of providing much needed amenities at the Brigade’s Station.
“Like all CFA brigades, ours is made up entirely of volunteers who do an amazing job to protect lives and property people living in our community, not just from bushfires, but all sorts of hazards and incidents, day and night, all year round.”
“Being a volunteer firefighter is a pretty demanding job, carried out with little complaint by people whose contribution often flies under the radar. This funding is an opportunity to give something back to our local volunteers and will be put directly towards improving the amenities at the Station including the station kitchen and making the space a little more comfortable and welcoming. So, I can’t thank the Dennis Family Corporation enough for their generous grant and for making this possible.”
The Dennis Family Corporation has successfully operated Community Funds across its residential estates both in Victoria and Southeast Queensland since 2002. To date it has distributed well over $1 million in grants, providing much needed financial support to hundreds of local not-for-profit groups and organisations along the way.
Says Dennis Family Corporation Marketing Manager, Melissa Munro, “Our Community Fund program is an opportunity for our business to contribute to support local groups that foster positive change within the communities where we operate. The Ashbury Community Fund is not just about financial assistance; it's about building a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Whether organisations have a new project in mind or need support to continue an existing initiative, the Ashbury Community Fund offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact.”
